The Indian Society of Human Genetics invites papers for consideration of the "Young Scientist" award to recognize and encourage the young talented scientists for the research carried out in any branch of Human Genetics. A maximum of awards have been instituted for a significant piece of research carried out in any branch of Human Genetics covering clinical genetics, molecular genetics, cytogenetics, population genetics etc. The applicants wishing to compete for the award during the 35th Annual Conference of ISHG (2010) should fulfill the following conditions :

They should not have completed 35 years of age and a certificate of age should accompany the paper submitted for a consideration of the award.

The paper submitted must be based on the results of an independent work carried out by the candidate. An affirmation to this effect by the candidate, attested by the Head of the Department and counter - signed by the Head of the Institution must accompany the paper.

If the work is a part of the doctoral thesis, a certificate from the guide / supervisor should be enclosed stating that the candidate is mainly responsible for the findings and interpretations of the results obtained.

Simple review papers, without any attempt at a critical analysis and synthesis of the results are not acceptable.

The paper should be of single authorship. The candidate should mention the extent of his or her contribution in the research work.

The paper should not have been published elsewhere before the presentation.

The papers received after the due date will not be considered.

 

Six copies of the paper complete in all respects and with an extended abstract of about 1000 words typed on a separate page should be sent to Prof. Dr K Thangaraj, Secretary ISHG, at CCMB Hyderabad on or before 15th January, 2010. The title page, name of author, and address should be given on a separate sheet.

The papers submitted will be reviewed by the experts in the field and the candidates whose papers are selected and found suitable for presentation at the annual conference of ISHG will be intimated. The candidates will be given 15 minutes to present their results followed by 5 minutes of discussions.

The decision of the Executive Council regarding the awards will be - final.
